For more than 180 years, my family has owned and operated Lee Funeral Homes. During those years, six generations of the Lee Family have prided themselves on providing caring, dignified service to families in need. Our roots began in 1836 in Washington D.C. We were the first crematory in Washington an among the first on the East Coast. In 1895, acting on the request of a local society whose 300 members favored cremation, installed the first crematory built by the Boston Crematorium Co. It was made of brick 16 feet deep, 10 feet high and 9 feet wide. The fuel was hard or anthracite coal. We continue to offer cremation today.
