The Cremation Association of North America (CANA) was the first to offer Crematory Operator Certification more than 30 years ago and continues to be the market leader in cremation certification and training. CANA’s Online Certification program, launched in 2017, was a valuable resource during the height of the pandemic. When travel was limited and funeral professionals were overwhelmed with work, the online and on-demand program enabled more people to earn their crematory operations certification than ever before. This interactive, online and on-demand certification provided a convenient, self-paced option to accommodate busy schedules. Now that many pandemic restrictions are loosening, CANA has added four in-person COCP trainings to meet pent-up demand. Seattle, WA – August 11: Tom Krowl of Cremation Systems and Dave Daniels of law firm Elguindy Meyer & Koegel APC will bring their expertise to the first in-person training of 2021. Certification registrants are invited to stick around for CANA’s 103rd Cremation Innovation Convention happening the same week in the same hotel! Elkridge, MD – September 15: John Mitchell of IR Environmental and Wendy Wiener of WRW Legal, PLLC gather on the opposite coast to lend their knowledge to provide necessary training to the many funeral professionals who need certification near and far. Albany, NY – October 12: Offered in partnership with the New York State Association of Cemeteries (NYSAC), Larry Stuart, Jr. of Cremation Strategies & Consulting and Dave Daniels provide New York State-specific instruction to meet the needs of New York cemeterians and cremationists in accordance with the regulations from the New York State Division of Cemeteries. Houston, TX – November 5: Larry Stuart, Jr. and Wendy Wiener wrap the year at Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service with a training that’s open to students and professionals alike. Register for any of these trainings at goCANA.org/calendar. Whether in-person or online, CANA’s certification program meets the certification requirement of more than 19 states and fulfills CE obligations in many states and provinces. Plus, CANA is a recognized and valued brand for all things cremation so funeral professionals benefit from the decades of cremation expertise. Registration is $595 but CANA Members, students, and service members receive discounts on this valuable training! See all of CANA's certification programs—including pet and alkaline hydrolysis options—on the CANA website: http://www.cremationassociation.org/COCP.
