Facilitated by DCC founders Erin Creger, Honnalora Hubbard and Sandra Walker, this meeting is dedicated to the people who encourage us and value peer support. All are welcome to join the conversation on July 18, 2023 at 8pm ET / 7pm CT / 5pm PT over Zoom to recall previous instances when your funeral professional community made a difference and discuss the challenges you face today. FPPS was founded on key principles such as respect and shared responsibility. Offering peer support meetings to practitioners across the globe, the organization is based on the belief that people who have faced and overcome adversity can provide useful support and mentorship to others facing similar situations. The DCC was founded with a complementary mission to invite funeral professionals to a safe space for women to connect, be vulnerable, and feel seen and heard. Through conference meet-ups, virtual hangouts, webinars and more, DCC builds on their foundation of integrity, respect, servant leadership, humility, vulnerability, inclusion, confidentiality, and accountability. DCC Founder Sandra Walker is a licensed funeral director with more than 23 years in the industry. As a chief executive in her business and board member for several organizations, she is conscious of the strain on the profession, particularly for women in leadership roles. “I want to see real change and the only way to make that happen is to get involved,” which is why she co-founded DCC. “The purpose is simple: providing an opportunity for connection, support, and growth among women in our profession.” “I feel having a strong support system is vital to a happy and successful career in death care,” agrees Erin Creger. Erin joined the funeral profession a decade ago and has risen to chief executive roles in her own career. “Make a difference for someone else,” encourages Honnalora who leads a team of professionals and has more than 20 years in the industry. “You want to talk about emotions, embrace them, experience them – I'm in!” Together, Erin, Honnalora and Sandra will share how peer support has helped them and encourage discussion in the group. While the DDC’s mission is to support women, everyone is invited to participate in this peer support meeting for all funeral professionals to connect.
