WHEELING, IL (January 6, 2015)—The Cremation Association of North America (CANA) and the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association (ICCFA) released a new joint statement on recycling for cremation professionals and state and provincial regulators. CANA and ICCFA embrace environmentally-friendly efforts that are consistent with its members’ business missions. “Cremation professionals have more options than ever before when considering recycling partners. The CANA-ICCFA Joint Recycling Statement provides guidance to our members when incorporating recycling into their business plans,” said Barbara Kemmis, executive director of CANA. The statement was developed, reviewed and approved by the Government and Legal Affairs committees of both associations, then submitted for approval by each respective leadership bodies. “Our goal is to provide important information on compliance, procedures, disclosure and compensation with respect to recycling,” said ICCFA president Fred Lappin, CCE. “I think we’ve accomplished that.” The document, “Statement on Non-Organic Waste Recycling,” may be viewed on the CANA and ICCFA websites.
