CANA Welcomes New Board Members

New Members Elected, Officers Advance at 97th Convention

WHEELING, IL—Great leaders are the driving force behind every successful professional association, and CANA’s progressive, forward-thinking momentum is sure to continue with the installation of its new board. During the 97th Annual Convention, July 29-August 1, 2015, at the San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina, CANA’s membership elected three new directors, while several other board members advanced into new officer positions.

Shannon Asmus, Robbie Pape, and Erin Whitaker Join the Leadership

Shannon Asmus of the Vertin Company in Breckenridge, Minnesota, is one of the newly installed board members, along with Robbie Pape, Senior Managing Director, Operations and Support, at Service Corporation International in Houston, Texas. The third new member is Erin Whitaker, Business Manager of the Whitaker Family Funeral Home in Newberry, South Carolina.

CANA Board Officer Advancement

Sheri Stahl, Vice President and Business Manager of The Island Funeral Home and Crematory in Hilton Head, South Carolina, is CANA’s new President. The association’s President-Elect is Tim Borden of Louisville, Kentucky. Tim is Founder and President of Borden Mortuary Group. CANA’s First Vice President and Treasurer is Michael Sheedy. Mike is Market Director for Service Corporation International (Canada) out of Ottawa, Ontario. Mitch Rose, CEO and President of The Woodlawn Cemetery, is now the Second Vice President.

CANA Executive Director Barbara Kemmis is eager to continue CANA’s ambitious development of programs, studies, and member benefits under the leadership of the 2015-2016 board. “Our board is known for its passion in promoting cremation best practices as well as its creativity and business acumen,” she said. “These experienced industry experts will perfectly represent the association and the important services provided by our members.” More information about CANA and the new board can be found on the association’s website at www.CremationAssociation.org.
