Crematory Operations In-Person Training In Los Angeles March 3
Whittier Hosts CANA’s Industry-Leading Crematory Operations Certification Program™

WHEELING, IL—If cremation is core to your business, your team needs training that ensures they have the technical, scientific, and legal knowledge to protect your operations. For more than 40 years, the Cremation Association of North America (CANA) has provided the most up-to-date training in crematory operations in the industry with the original Crematory Operations Certification Program™ (CANA COCP™). On March 3, 2026, CANA hosts a full day of live, in-person training at Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuaries in Whittier, serving funeral professionals across California and the west.

WHY CANA COCP CERTIFICATION MATTERS
Written and designed in collaboration with crematory and alkaline hydrolysis manufacturers, owner/operators, practitioners, and legal authorities, the CANA COCP curriculum is the only truly multi-perspective course available in our industry. It meets the certification requirement in 20 states and provides up to eight hours of continuing education (CE).

With a focus on best practices, the CANA COCP’s comprehensive curriculum covers:

  • Flame and water cremation processes
  • Equipment and operations
  • Chain of custody and reducing legal risk
  • Environmental considerations and compliance
  • the latest, most accurate information, ensuring professionals are up-to-date.

EXPERT-LED TRAINING IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY
On March 3, Tom Krowl of Cremation Systems and Dave Daniels of the law firm ElGuindy, Meyer & Koegel, APC head to southern California for the first in-person training of 2026 at Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuaries in Whittier. Learn more about the class and register at cremationassociation.org/COCP.

Discounts are available for CANA Members, active and retired military service members, and students currently pursuing a degree in funeral service or mortuary science.

FLEXIBLE ONLINE CERTIFICATION
Can’t attend in person? CANA’s Online Certification Program offers the same comprehensive training—accessible anytime, anywhere from your smartphone, tablet, or computer. Unlike static recorded lectures, the online course features interactive content on both flame cremation and alkaline hydrolysis, allowing professionals to learn at their own pace and pause or resume as needed.

To serve an increasingly diverse workforce, CANA’s Online COCP is available in English, Spanish, and French, making certification more accessible than ever.

A MARK OF DISTINCTION
Whether taken in-person or online, CANA COCP certification is recognized across the industry as a mark of excellence. Funeral professionals benefit from CANA’s decades of expertise and commitment to cremation-first education.

Registration is just $695 for both in-person and online training opportunities, and CANA Members, students, and service members receive discounts on this valuable certification – book now! Learn more about the CANA Crematory Operations Certifications Program and demo the online course on the CANA website: cremationassociation.org/COCP.
