FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Barbara Kemmis elected to National Museum of Funeral History Board of Directors Exciting things are happening at National Museum of Funeral History. The Board of Directors recently met and elected Barbara Kemmis to join its esteemed team of business owners, association leaders, entrepreneurs and philanthropists from the private, nonprofit, and public sectors. Kemmis contributed to the History of Cremation exhibit that launched in September 2018. “Working with the museum staff and leadership to shape the History of Cremation exhibit was one of the highlights of my career. The museum is dedicated to education as well as preserving the history of our profession. I am honored to join the Board and support the Museum’s mission,” says Kemmis. Barbara Kemmis is Executive Director of the Cremation Association of North America where she promotes all things cremation through member programs, education and strategic partnerships. After more than 20 years of experience in association leadership, Barbara knows that bringing people together to advance common goals is not only fun, but the most effective strategy to get things done. Barbara has served two prior professions as the Director of Member Services at the American Theological Library Association and Vice President of Library and Nonprofit Services at the Donors Forum (now Forefront). Barbara earned a master’s degree in library science from Dominican University, a graduate certificate in nonprofit management from North Park University and a B.A. from Earlham College. ABOUT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF FUNERAL HISTORY Since 1992, the National Museum of Funeral History houses the country's largest collection of funeral service artifacts in 30,500 square feet of exhibit space and features 15 permanent exhibits on one of man’s oldest cultural customs. Visitors can discover the mourning rituals of ancient civilizations, see up-close the authentic items used in the funerals of U.S. presidents and popes and explore the rich heritage of the funeral service industry and its time-honored tradition of compassion. The museum is located at 415 Barren Springs Dr., Houston, Texas 77090 and is open Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday from 10a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12– 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and veterans; $7 for children 6 – 11 years old; and free for children age 5 and younger.
